A four-year varsity starter, elite student, and elected school leader, Ellison sees basketball through a team-first lens: communicate, understand your teammates, make the right read, and make the people around you better.
She learned the game before she played it.
At five, Ellison began watching her older brother — a gifted player — from the sidelines. She studied possessions, asked questions, and even started “coaching” him before she had a team of her own.
Basketball also became something she shared with her Dad. They watched games together, and Ellison asked question after question about what she saw. When she was nine, she lost her Dad after his three-year battle with cancer.
What stayed with her was his example of strength — the discipline and mental strength required to keep moving through adversity. That example still shapes how she competes, leads, and responds when things get difficult.

Ellison believes communication is one of the most important parts of basketball — but not everyone needs to hear the same thing. She studies teammates’ strengths and weaknesses and uses that understanding to create team success on both ends.
